Applications and approvals without the paperwork pile
By causefolk · Oct 14, 2026
Some causes can take anyone who walks in. Others need to know who is coming before they hand over the keys, the van or the kids. Applications in Causefolk are for the second kind, and they are built so the paperwork never piles up.
Build the form you need
Short answers, long answers, choices, checkboxes, an agreement your folk must accept, and up to three document uploads, say a driver’s license or a certificate. Every save of the form is a version, so an answer is always read against the questions it was answering.
Gate only what needs gating
Approval is a property of the cause, not the organization. Mark the ones that require an approved application and leave the rest open. Someone who signs up for a gated shift before applying is asked to apply, and their spot waits for the decision.
The review queue
New applications land in one list. Open one, read the answers, open the documents, approve or decline. Approved people can sign up for everything; declined people get a kind note and cannot. You can revoke later if you need to.
Approvals that expire
If your approvals should last a year, say so, and every approval ends a year after its decision. Thirty days out, the person is reminded and can renew from their portal with their answers kept; you renew or decline. An approval that lapses is treated like none, with their confirmed shifts untouched, and they re-apply when ready.
Uploads stay private
Documents go straight to private storage, are checked for their real file type, and open only through links that expire in ten minutes, for staff of that organization only. Nothing is ever public, and a pending upload that never gets attached is cleaned up within a day.
In their language
The form, the questions you write and the decision emails reach your folk in English or Spanish. Your questions are shown as you wrote them; the chrome around them follows the person.
